Position Held: Executive Director – 1990 – 2000

The first job held on the Hannahville Indian Reservation was managing a 10-unit housing project. The program was awarded to a tribal (US) corporate entity known as the Michigan Potawatomi Housing Authority. The housing units were located near the tribal administration offices.

The program produced three bedroom homes. Individual water wells and septic takes for plumbing were attached to each home. The project was designed to address low to moderate income housing needs on the reservation.

The project was managed by the state of michigan as a historic preservation program. The primary funds would be created using a loan agreement with the newly form housing authority.

The primary beneficiaries were people with low incomes but were employed. The program operated on a thirty percent rule as an established means to collect rent and repay the loan with the State of Michigan.

Indian Gaming soon became a major factor in revenue generation for the Hannahville Indian Community and paid off the coprtate loan for the Michigan Potawatmi Housing Authority. The would allow the tribal government to establish an all inclusive housing program.
