Members of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians are voting on a proposed constitution that would split government into three branches. It also changes rules on citizenship, judges, recall, and access to tribal records, and members must approve or reject the whole document in one vote. Whatever your tribe’s setup, it is a good time to ask: do our boards and committees have clear roles, term limits, and open records?
