Did you know? 🏛️

The Hannahville Indian Community Financing and Building Authority has a 7-member board, and every seat is appointed by the Tribal Council.

When the Council makes these appointments, it acts as the Authority’s sole shareholder, not as the tribal government. And at least 4 of the 7 directors must be Council members who live on tribal lands.

Knowing who appoints a board, and how, is the first step to holding it accountable.

Free download: a one-page summary of board terms, appointments, and removal rules from the charter.
