Recent Census data shows how our 162 households are doing:

- 🟠 1 in 4 households (43) earn under $25,000
- 🟢 Nearly half (75) earn $35,000 to $75,000, our middle
- ⚪ Only 14 households (9%) earn $100,000 or more
What this tells me: most of our families are working and holding steady, but a lot of us are living close to the edge, and very few are building real wealth. A paycheck alone isn’t closing that gap.
Here’s something else to think about. Most of our casino payroll goes home to Escanaba. That money is earned here and spent somewhere else. Our shopping dollars follow the same road, to Bark River and Escanaba.
Small business is how we bring it back. A side business that brings in even $500 a month moves a family up a bracket. And every dollar spent with a Native-owned business in Hannahville stays home and works for our families.
