An elegant editorial mockup of a hardcover memoir book standing upright, deep forest-green and warm brown cover with subtle debossed geometric woodland-indigenous-inspired pattern, sitting on a neutral warm surface with soft directional light and gentle shadow. Dignified, premium, minimal, no readable text on cover.

From my upcoming book

The officers who came to my door were BIA-funded and cross-deputized. A few years earlier, as a tribal council member, I was the one who made the motion to accept that agreement.

They were there to arrest me on a list of charges. The main one was misusing a common communication carrier. The others included threatening and intimidating, resisting arrest, and other civil violations.

In plain words, I was being arrested for a phone message.

All charges were later dropped. What happened in between is in the book.

I’ve served my community in leadership for a long time. This book is my side of the story, told plainly, so others who step up to serve know what the role can bring.
